Not a fan of caffeine? No worries, Washington's Passage is here! And if you are wondering how this decaf blend got its name, in 1784, George Washington set up camp for a night at the present-day Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta on his return trip to the South Branch Valley. How cool is that?
Washington's Passage is a heavy-bodied decaf that is certified Kosher and is processed using The Swiss Water (R) Process. This bold Brazilian decaf includes decaffeinated espresso beans that delivers a full-flavored cup without sacrificing the integrity of the bean with chemicals. You won't be sacrificing any flavor with this decaf blend.
Decaf coffee is a type of coffee that has had most of its caffeine removed. It is a popular choice for those who love the taste of coffee but want to avoid the jittery effects of caffeine. Decaf coffee is made from the same beans as regular coffee but goes through a process to remove caffeine, which can be done using water, chemicals, or a combination of both. It is important to note that decaf coffee is not completely caffeine-free and still contains a small amount of caffeine, but significantly less than regular coffee.
The best way to brew decaf coffee is to treat it like regular coffee in terms of the brewing process. Start by grabbing your Washington's Passage whole beans and grinding them just before brewing, or grab a bag of pre-ground. Use a drip coffee maker or a French press to brew the coffee. The water temperature should be between 195°F and 205°F, and the brewing time should be four to six minutes. Avoid over-extracting the coffee to prevent it from becoming too bitter. Finally, serve the decaf coffee in a preheated cup and enjoy its full flavor without the caffeine.
