Our medium roast here at Portland Coffee is named after Evans Curve, which is at the top of Caddell Mountain and will lead you right into Terra Alta. This gateway to the town boasts breathtaking views in spring, summer, and fall. In the wintertime, Evans Curve is frequently covered with blowing and drifting snow.
This medium roast, comprised of a blend of Mexican and Guatemalan beans, is smooth with hints of chocolate and caramel. Medium roasts tend to be a bit sweeter than a light roast, with a bit more body and a balanced acidity. So, if you’re looking for a delicious coffee with a smooth flavor, definitely check out Evans Curve.
A medium roast is very versatile when brewing, and honestly, it’s pretty hard to mess up. That is why it is one of our go-to roasts to serve in the shop. One of the best ways to brew medium roast coffee is to use a drip coffee maker with a medium grind. Use 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water, and brew for 4 to 6 minutes. Enjoy!
Some great treats to pair with a medium roast coffee include biscotti, coffee cake, muffins, croissants, and scones. These options provide a balance of sweetness and texture that complement the flavor profile of a medium roast coffee. Here at Portland Coffee, we offer a variety of different treats from local bakers for you to enjoy when you stop in. We love to keep it local!
Medium roast coffee is a great choice because it offers a balanced flavor profile that is not too strong or too weak. It has a medium level of acidity, which can help enhance the flavor of the coffee without being too overpowering. Additionally, medium roast coffee tends to have a fuller body and a more complex flavor compared to lighter roasts. So, if you're looking for a coffee that's flavorful but not too intense, medium roast could be the perfect fit for you.
